Care & Cleaning
Our naturally absorbent diatomite range is designed to keep your home dry and clean with ease. With a little maintenance, your pieces will stay beautiful and effective for years.
REMOVING STAINS
Diatomite is porous by nature, which allows it to absorb moisture quickly—but that also means darker liquids or grime can leave marks.
Still there? You can apply a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to the area and gently scrub—this can help lift tougher stains without damaging the surface.
Dealing with Saturation
While diatomite dries fast, heavy or repeated moisture exposure can saturate it over time. If your product starts to look darker or takes longer to dry:
Proper airflow is key. Ensure your product is slightly elevated or placed on its Non-Slip Pad to promote ventilation underneath.
Restoring Absorption
Over time, the top layer of your product may become less absorbent due to the porous surface becoming clogged with dirt, oils, or minerals from water. To restore its performance and absorbency, follow these steps:
This simple step reactivates the full power of the natural stone, keeping it working like new.
Diatomaceous earth (or diatomite) is a naturally occurring, highly porous material made from fossilised algae. It’s what gives Natureva products their unique ability to absorb and evaporate moisture in seconds—without chemicals or synthetic materials.

We recommend wiping your product weekly with a soft cloth and a vinegar–water solution to remove surface dust, soap, or stains. This will ensure your product looks fresh and stays that way for years to come.
We recommend avoiding coloured or chemical cleaners, as they may stain or damage the surface. Stick to a natural vinegar–water mixture or mild, colourless dish soap if needed.
Our diatomite stone is naturally mould-resistant, but prolonged moisture exposure—especially on lighter colours like 'Chalk' or 'Slate'—can lead to mould spots. Due to its porous surface, mould can develop further if not addressed promptly. If mould appears, act quickly: fully dry your product and follow the cleaning steps to remove stains. Regular care and proper airflow will keep your product performing at its best.
Natureva products are best suited for indoor use. Prolonged sun exposure can cause warping or discolouration over time, especially when wet. Always dry your product in a shaded, well-ventilated spot.

Yes, it’s completely normal! The powder or small spots you notice are a natural result of the diatomaceous earth material. These minor variations, including white dots, are part of their unique character and do not affect their performance. To get started, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth before first use to remove any excess powder. Rest assured, these small imperfections are simply a sign of the natural material used in crafting your products!
