Yes, it’s normal! The light residue comes from the diatomaceous earth used to make the caddy. Just wipe it with a damp cloth before use, and it’s good to go. Minor variations like small white dots are natural and don’t affect the caddy’s quality.
Simply wipe it weekly with a vinegar-water mixture and allow it to air dry. For heavier stains, start by lightly sanding the area. If the stain persists, gently scrub with a soft brush and non-coloured dishwashing liquid under water, then rinse.
The caddy’s absorbent power helps keep your countertop dry and tidy. However, coloured liquids or soaps may stain it. We recommend thoroughly rinsing items before placing them on the caddy. With care, including light sanding, it will last for years.
